Since 2015, thousands of children and youth who lose access to their school nutrition programs during the summer months count on I Can for Kids to provide them with basic nutritional support - it is critical to their physical, emotional, social and academic development. We support low-income children, homeless youth, and young victims of domestic violence. We are thoughtful in our approach, committed to quality, and focused on giving kids better access to the food they need with a greater sense of dignity and belonging. To the kids we feed, we’re doing the most important work in the world.
Equally as important, is the passion and commitment of our Board of Directors. The Board supports the work of I Can for Kids Foundation, providing mission-based leadership and strategic governance as well as actively participates in community engagement and fundraising activities.
We’re doing a great job, but we’re always striving to be the best we can be at serving the kids who need us most. As we enter our sixth year, we’re looking for an outstanding individual to join our organization in the role of Board Chair. Serving as the chief volunteer and cheerleader of I Can for Kids, the Board Chair will provide leadership to their fellow board members, assist us with deepening our roots in the community and developing and operationalizing strategies to take our organization through our next stage of growth.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who is passionate about the success of I Can for Kids’ beneficiaries. The selected Board Chair will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, and/or the non-profit sector, along with demonstrated success as a non-profit board member or board chair with a proven track record of effectively leading and regionally scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff. He or she will be well-connected and eager to share the I Can for Kids story, understanding that feeding a hungry child not only helps them do better, but it helps them thrive, and when a child thrives, the family thrives, and we all grow stronger.
If you remember how great it was to be a kid and are passionate about the health and well-being of children and youth in Calgary, we encourage you to contact us about joining our team.
The Board Chair can expect to hit the ground running, dedicating approximately 2 hours per week and leading a minimum of four meetings per year. This is two-year term with the possibility of a second term.
